And then there was KanyaKumari

Kanyakumari is a very poetic idea. A Kanya is waiting eternally for her Shiva, who never came and therefore remained Kumari.

The whole place has a sense of incompleteness and therefore is "incomplete beautiful" like god idols of Jagganthpuri. We went to Kanyakumari to see a Sunrise and a Sunset and both visions remained incomplete due to Clouds. I wanted to see the southernmost tip of India, stand there and face the whole nation but all the constructions have marred the beauty and what remained of the tip does not give you sense of magnificance. I made Manjiri stand at the Tip as was seen there and photographed her.

The poetic idea of Kanyakumari waiting for her Shiva doesnot end there. The Kanya commonly known as Kumari Amman, when realised that her Shiva is not to come threw away all her Pooja material and it got scattered in all the three seas available at the tip of India. Even today the waves from sea of Bay of Banagal brings Red Sand indicating "Kunkum", the waves of Indian Ocean at southern side brings out White Sand indicating " Akshata", the rice grains and the waves of Arebian sea on West brings out Yellow sand indicating "Haladi "( termeric). A kanyakumari is waiting and her Pooja material is brought back by sea with each of its waves is very poetic.

Swami Vivekanada, when visited the sight in 1920 must be thrilled. He swam to the Rock on southern side and meditated. The rock now bears Vivekanada Rock Memorial. A new Staue of Poet " Thiruvalluvar is a new attraction. A boat ride to Vivekananda Rock memorial adds spice to you Kanyakumari visit.
